DECORATE
THE ENTRY,
PUBLIC AREAS, RESTROOMS & STAGE
Everything
should remind guests of a beauty salon: Hair dryers, salon
chairs, magazines and posters all over the walls featuring
models with cute cuts.
Have
your volunteer staff wear beautician smocks with hair dryers,
brushes and hair products popping out of the pockets.
Decorate
one part of the stage like a "real" salon where
a beautician will actually do a make-over hair cut and style
right during your event. This "side-show" should
runs alongside the other fun stage activities, but should
be finished before the speaker is introduced.
HAIR
FUN
Have a
hair contest plus a drawing for a free hair make-over: Visit
local hair salons in advance to find one who is willing to
send a beautician on event night to do a "live"
hair make-over on some lucky winner plus a few others who
would be willing to donate certificates for a free hair treatment
of any kind. These certificates would be given as the prizes
for the hair contest. Tips for contacting businesses can be

REGISTRATION
TABLE FUN!
Your welcome
table will be a busy place at this event. Be sure to staff
enough help to keep everything flowing. Make it humorous by
having one of the volunteers occasionally pull out a mister
with water to squirt a guest (whose hair is not done for the
contest). Caution: DO NOT overdo this or it will be a bad
vs. good thing.
At
the registration table, several things need to happen:
- Each
guest needs a name tag. Ready-to-personalize template included
in the theme set.
- Guests
who would like to win a free hair make-over should put their
names into a drawing basket. The make-over will be done
during the event.
- Guests
who are participating in the Hair Contest should receive
an extra name-tag which you need to pin onto their BACK.
This tag should include the contest category and a number
(which will enable all other guests to vote). The templates
for these tags are available in the theme set.
- Finally,
each guest should be given a score card onto which she may
place her votes for each Hair Contest category -- limit:
one vote per category. (Note: Collect ballots before the
speaker begins, allowing at least 30 minutes for tallying
votes.) Winners should be announced as one of the last fun
things of the evening.
- Many
guests will bring a hair care product to donate. Invite
them to find a centerpiece that still needs their kind of
product and to add it directly to that basket.

TABLE
DECORATIONS
Use pastel colored
tablecloths, paper plates and napkins. In the center of each table,
place a gift basket lined with three colors of tissue paper. Inside
the basket, place one pastel silk flower and either a track or like-new
devotional book. At the end of the evening, ask each table to "wrap"
their basket in clear basket wrap and tie it off with the pretty
pastel ribbon you provide. The guests at each table should sign
a gift card (template in the theme set).
