DECORATE
THE ENTRY,
PUBLIC AREAS, RESTROOMS & STAGE
Mangers
of every size, shape, style and color should be borrowed for
this occasion. Use smaller nativities as centerpieces and
larger sets as floor displays in the entry and on the platform.
If your sanctuary has a cross up, be sure to position one
large nativity set under it for reinforcement of the theme.
Beyond
using nativities, you will need to decide whether to go rustic
or elegant. Rustic could include hay strewn about and maybe
a live sheep or two (in a pen, of course). An elegant event
could feature evergreen trees with twinkly lights. Either
way, the staff could be dressed in traditional Christmas-program
robes and head coverings.
TABLE
ACTIVITY
After guests
have been seated at tables, hand out copies of The
Prediction Game. Read the Introduction,
then have them work together as teams to try to guess who
predicted which things about Jesus. Use the Answer
Key to "score" the game which drives home the
amazing reality that Christ's miraculous birth, life, death
and resurrection was foretold long before He was ever born.
GIVE
AWAYS & PRIZE IDEAS
To generate
fun, give away small acrylic nativities available from a local
dollar store to the people who have done things like 1) mailed
all their Christmas cards already, 2) finished their Christmas
shopping, 3) completed baking 12 or more dozen Christmas treats,
and one gift for the person who will traveling the farthest
to celebrate Christmas this year.
